GRADUATION

Scheduling/Length of Ceremony and Diploma Pickup

The graduation ceremony will take place on June 8, at 5:30pm, on the Football Field, and is expected to be between 90 minutes and 2 hours in length.  Graduates will receive diploma cases at the ceremony, and then following the ceremony will proceed to assigned locations, grouped by counselor (details will be announced) to receive their diplomas.

Graduation Programs

Graduation Programs are printed on the morning of graduation (to ensure an accurate list of names) and are distributed at the Graduation Ceremony.  No advance copies of the program will be available.

Graduation Ceremony Tickets

Each year during May, every graduating senior receives FOUR free tickets to the ceremony to be distributed to family and friends.  These four tickets will provide access to seating in the stadium stands on a general admission basis.  For any family or friends requiring handicapped accessible seating, arrangements must be made in advance with Mr. Gracias, and each person seated in this area (which is the top row of bleacher seats for easy access from the parking lot) must present one of the four free tickets given to the graduating senior.

We understand that many families would like to include more than four people in the group attending the graduation, but with 750 graduating seniors and a seating capacity of 3,000 in the football stadium stands, there are simply no additional seats available.  Family and friends not able to be seated in the stands are encouraged to watch the live stream of the Ceremony which will be available on www.palihigh.org.

Graduation Rehearsal

All graduating seniors MUST attend the graduation ceremony rehearsal on Graduation morning, which is scheduled from 8AM to 11 AM.  It is possible that the rehearsal will not require the full three hours allotted (especially if everyone pays attention and follows instructions) but it is essential that students be prompt and plan to attend for the full time period if necessary in order to minimize delays and glitches at the early evening Ceremony.

Cap & Gown Sets

A school-issued Cap & Gown must be worn by all students who participate in the Graduation Ceremony.  A loaner Cap & Gown (which is to be returned after the Graduation Ceremony) is provided free of charge to every student who reserves one.  Any students who have not yet filled out and turned in a Cap & Gown reservation card should visit the Counseling Office as soon as possible to take care of this.  Any students who would like to purchase and keep the Cap & Gown instead of borrowing it may do so, but will need to provide a payment (in cash or check payable to Palisades Charter High School) of $20 when they go to the Counseling Office at the end of May to pick up the Cap & Gown.

Any students who borrow a Cap & Gown must return it (including the Tassle) at the Diploma pickup station after the Ceremony in order to obtain a Diploma.  If they decide instead to keep the Cap & Gown, they must provide the $20 purchase payment in order to obtain their Diploma.

Graduation Requirements

In addition to academic graduation requirements of which students are already aware, in order to receive diplomas, students must have returned all of their textbooks to the Library, and must have cleared all of their absences with the Attendance Office.

SENIOR CLASS ACTIVITIES

There is still time to make a donation toward senior class activities.  A donation of $50 would actually cover almost all planned student activities, but if $50 is more than you can manage, any amount is very much appreciated.  Money raised through this campaign covers or subsidizes the following activities:

·               SENIOR PICNIC LUNCH

·               SENIOR POOL PARTY

·               SENIOR LASER TAG OUTING

·               SENIOR ICE SKATING NIGHT

·               SENIOR SPECTACULAR!

·               ON CAMPUS SENIOR ACTIVITIES AND GAMES

Please make check payable to 'Palisades High Booster Club' (note 'Class of 2016 in the Memo line) and place (in an envelope) in the Booster Club mailbox in the Main Office, or mail your check to Palisades High Booster Club, PO Box 223, Pacific Palisades, CA  90272.  2016 Donation Form.  Please contact Patty Best at 310.339.8002 or patty.best@telesproperties.com with any questions.
